DJ BISHOP, also known as "Dat Eclectic DJ", has built a strong reputation in the biz as one of the most dynamic and diverse DJ's to ever master the 1s and 2s. Originally from Brooklyn, New York, Bishop has been influenced by many of the greats that have also originated there. This explains his Hip-Hop and Gospel roots, but now residing just twenty minutes outside of Philadelphia after relocating from Smithfield, Rhode Island and Hartford, Connecticut, Bishop's musical tastes has also been influenced by the Club / Dance / Techno scene of New England. And by keeping his ear to the streets, Bishop doesn't neglect any form of music that'll "keep 'em on the dance floor."

Bishop started his career in 1994 as a radio DJ on WJMF 88.7FM (Rhode Island) by hosting two radio shows: "Wakin' Up With Tha' Buttas" on Saturday Mornings and "Gospel Flava" on Sunday Mornings. While hosting both shows, Bishop branched out and became a freelance DJ for Bryant University home basketball and volleyball games. Shortly thereafter, he became the resident DJ for the Bryant University Cornerstone - Bryant's campus pub.

Upon graduating from Bryant University in 1998 (where Bishop earned his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Computer Information Systems), Bishop relocated to Hartford, Connecticut to regroup and earn the cash necessary to invest in his own equipment. A few months later, Bishop became a self-sustained mobile disc jockey spinnin' at weddings, sweet 16s, family reunions, etc.

"My goal has always been to keep 'em on the dance floor." Bishop says. "I go into every party prepared to spin what they want to hear. Most DJs without an already established format tend to play what they like. My thing is, if there's no one dancing, I'm not doing my job."

In 2001, Bishop made a well needed career move and relocated to Northeast Philadelphia where he became the resident DJ for "The Groove Shack" located in the Jillians Entertainment Complex (now Dave & Busters). At the same time, he also joined the talented entertainment staff of DJ's Available Sound & Light in Moorestown, NJ as a DJ-For-Hire. Working for both companies have given Bishop exposure not only to multiple styles of music, but to multiple types of parties. It's this style that branded him the nickname of "eclectic" from his friends and family.

"DJ Bishop has the amazing ability to put multiple styles together," states Alex Chaney (of Never2Funky.com). "He'll throw up Bon Jovi, then play Jay-Z, and somehow he makes it fit."

Since 2001, Bishop has been working as a part-time disc jockey while juggling two full-time jobs...one as a computer support programmer and the other as a husband and father. In 2002, the birth of his daughter, Maya, pleasantly forced Bishop to retire from his club residency at Jillians in order to assist his wife and concentrate more on his family life.

In between the occasional public promotional events and periodic private gigs (weddings, office parties, etc.), Bishop produces several critically acclaimed mix CDs that have been distributed from coast-to-coast and all over the world.

In 2005, DJ Bishop and his wife welcomed their second child, Alex, into the world and at the same time made his return to radio by producing, mixing, and hosting a weekly Internet radio show called “ENTER THE ECLECTIC”. On this show you’ll never know what mix of music you’ll get from week to week. The show became so popular, it’s now syndicated on several stations across the country…including at the station where he got his start, WJMF 88.7FM. You can also find him spinnin’ on ThePodcastNetwork.com on his Urban independent artist podcast THA’ HUNGA MIXTAPE SHOW. Plus, his mixes are in rotation on AOL Radio.

In 2007, DJ Bishop became affiliated with the Serato Pimps. The Serato Pimps are a crew of DJs who spin using Rane’s Serato Scratch Live DJ hardware/software. The pimps include prominent DJs from all over the world.

DJ Bishop is now a PROUD member of the world famous BumSquad DJz.
